New York Power Authority
The New York Power Authority (NYPA), is a New York State public benefit corporation
providing some of the lowest-cost electricity in New York State. NYPA operates 17 generating facilities and more than 1,400 circuit-miles of transmission
lines.NYPA sells electric power to government agencies, municipal electric systems and rural electric cooperatives, companies, private utilities for resale (without profit) to their customers, and to neighboring states, under federal requirements. Since mid 1980's NYPA has offered energy services.

NYPA Energy Services
NYPA Energy Services is a turnkey offering including audit, design, construction and complete project closeout. NYPA's has energy services programs for K-12 schools; colleges/Universities; local government; state government; water & wastewater treatment facilities; health care; not-for-profit organizations.NYPA’s energy conservation program can cut a facility's energy bills by up to 25 percent. As added benefits, it reduces maintenance requirements. The process usually starts with a comprehensive energy audit of the facility. A
NYPA's formula is to provide upfront financing with recovery from participants usually within 10 years through energy savings.

Background
All over New York State NYPA is working closely with state and local governments, school districts, colleges, universities and others to conserve energy
and save taxpayers money.
Currently, NYPA is actively supporting the Governor’s “45 by 15” plan, which calls for New York State to meet 45 percent of its electricity needs through improved
energy efficiency and clean, renewable energy by 2015.
Starting in the mid 1980s, NYPA’s energy-efficiency services have grown to more than $1.4-billion invested to fund energy improvements at more
than 3,300 public and not-for-profit facilities.
When executing energy services projects, from start to finish, NYPA works with facility managers to identify, design and install new lighting and motors, as well as upgrades to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. We try to address all energy efficiency improvements in a single, comprehensive effort.
